Stealth Corvidae

That is some picture ! Are they ravens or crows ? We don't have too many ravens left over here.

The most amazing flyer I have observed is the Jackdaw (Corvus monedula).I saw them as a boy in Frankenberg but later only in the Alps while skiing. They are the smallest of the raven family but sooooo good at using the air, especially around the Alpine peaks and cliffs.

I last saw them in August when we took the cable car up the Schilthorn peak at 2970 meter in central Switzerland, scene of the James Bond movie "On Her Majesty's Secret Service".

I don't think I ever saw a raven in nature, they are so rare in Europe.

All the corvidae show great intelligence as well as super flying skills. I can't count the number of times I've seen crows dining on "road kill", but I've yet to see a single crow that became "road kill"!
